January 2026 Newsletter — Highlights

January marked a major season of progress at the Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council.

Operation 6 (The Veteran Center) is fully online: Construction at 315 E. Oak Street is complete, the Certificate of Occupancy has been issued, the VA inspection was completed on December 16, and veterans began moving in on December 8. The newsletter also shares that the VA has approved Option Year Two, with the official start date expected soon.

Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting (February): With full staffing now in place—including 24/7 security—JAVC is preparing a February community celebration with fellowship, hors d’oeuvres, and gratitude.

Arizona Tax Credit (QCO): Support veterans locally through the Arizona Qualified Charitable Organization tax credit, including donation timing (through April 15, 2026 for the 2025 tax year) and the 2025 maximum credits ($495 single / $987 married filing jointly).

Tiny Home Village update: With the Veteran Center stabilized, JAVC is entering the next phase of financial planning and working with banking partners toward Phase 1 construction financing (estimated ~$2.3M).

Operation Bob spotlight: A powerful reminder that stability doesn’t stop at “being housed.” Operation Bob was created to help aging and disabled veterans with repairs they can’t safely manage—highlighting a recent project supporting Bob, an 85-year-old U.S. Navy veteran, completed with help from Home Depot and volunteers.
