Support Liberty Commons

Help Build Housing, Stability, and Hope for Veterans

Liberty Commons is a planned 72-home veteran supportive housing community beginning  in Kingman, Arizona and was developed by the Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council (JAVC).

The vision behind Liberty Commons is simple:

To provide veterans experiencing homelessness or housing instability with a safe, stable community where they can rebuild their lives with dignity, support, accountability, and hope.

Liberty Commons is designed to provide more than housing alone. These communities will combine permanent supportive housing with wraparound services including:

  • Transportation assistance
  • Peer-to-peer veteran support
  • Case management
  • Stabilization services
  • Access to community resources
  • Long-term pathways toward independence and recovery

We believe veterans often heal best in community with other veterans who understand the unique challenges of military service, trauma, transition, and recovery.

By creating a stable veteran-centered environment, Liberty Commons seeks to help reduce veteran homelessness, isolation, substance abuse, and suicide while strengthening long-term stability and healing.

Why This Project Matters

Veterans in rural Arizona often face unique barriers including:

  • Limited access to affordable housing
  • Transportation challenges
  • Mental health isolation
  • Limited support networks
  • Substance abuse recovery challenges
  • Lack of long-term supportive housing options

Liberty Commons is designed to help address those challenges through community, structure, accountability, and support.

Congressional Support

The Liberty Commons veteran housing initiative was recently advanced into the FY27 federal appropriations review process through the offices of Senator Mark Kelly and Senator Ruben Gallego as part of a proposed:

THUD: Kingman Veterans Supportive Housing Expansion – $2,500,000

While funding has not yet been awarded, this advancement represents an important milestone for the project and demonstrates growing regional, state, and federal recognition of the need for veteran supportive housing in rural Arizona.
